About Garrett
Garrett is a play-by-play broadcaster with market experience in Austin, Texas and Minor League Baseball stops in St. Paul, Minnesota, Helena, Montana and Biloxi, Mississippi. Garrett currently resides on the Gulf Coast in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Since 2018, Garrett has been the 'Voice of the Biloxi Shuckers,' calling over 500 games across four seasons with Biloxi. Prior to home games, he hosts 'Shuckers On Deck,' an in-stadium pregame show, before making his way back to the MGM Park press box for first pitch. He has also been the host and one of the producers for 'Shuckers Showcase,' a once-a-month show produced in season to highlight Shuckers' players and staff at MGM Park on WXXV 25.
A graduate of the Moody College of Communications at the University of Texas at Austin, Garrett first worked for the Univeristy of Texas Softball team as a color commentator and play-by-play broadcaster while in school. He also served as a host and reporter for multiple shows on the student television station.
After graduation, Garrett spent four years in sports talk radio at 104.9 FM The Horn in Austin, Texas. While at The Horn, Garrett worked as an on-air host, studio anchor, producer, board operator and on-site engineer, eventually hosting his own one-hour show four days a week. During this time, Garrett also provided play-by-play for high school football, baseball and basketball on terrestrial and internet radio.
In 2016, Garrett began his career in Minor League Baseball, spending the summer as the Broadcast and Media Relations Assistant for the St. Paul Saints of the American Association, broadcasting Saints games with 2016 Broadcaster of the Year Sean Aronson. The following summer, Garrett joined the affiliated ranks, serving as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Rookie-Level Helena Brewers. Heading into the 2018 season, Garrett was named the Media Relations Manager and Broadcaster for the Shuckers.
Since 2021, Garrett has been the primary play-by-play broadcaster for Southern Miss Volleyball on ESPN+ after previously calling the Conference USA volleyball tournament at the USM Wellness Center in 2021, including the C-USA Championship game. While living on the Gulf Coast, Garrett has worked with the University of South Alabama football and basketball radio broadcast teams. During the fall of 2020, he launched the 'High School Football Game of the Week' in partnership with Coast Radio, which was honored by the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters for 'Best Sportscast or Sports Program' in 2021.
Garrett has voice over experience, serving as the primary voice of the auto attendant for RealPage Inc. in Richardson, Texas. His other skills include on-camera hosting, emceeing, audio production, live event audio mixing and video editing.
